Tobe’s story did not begin at an airport.
It began near Portobelo, on Panama’s Caribbean coast, where a family visiting Panama met a young street dog and formed a connection they could not leave behind.
They named him Tobe — short for Portobelo.
When the family returned to the United States, Tobe remained in Panama under veterinary care. Their goal was clear: bring him home to join their family.
The challenge was that they were already thousands of miles away.
That is when Panama Pet Relocation became involved.

Moving Tobe internationally required much more than purchasing an airline ticket.
Starting with a recently rescued street dog meant making sure every veterinary, documentation and transportation requirement was completed correctly before he could travel.
Our team coordinated with Tobe’s veterinarian in the Colón area, reviewed his records and managed the preparations required for his international relocation.
Because his family was already back in the United States, the entire process in Panama had to be handled on their behalf.

When it was time to begin the final preparations, our team arranged for Tobe to be transported from the Colón area to Panama City.
From that point until departure, he remained under coordinated care while we completed the final stages of his relocation.
This also allowed us to evaluate Tobe personally and make sure his travel kennel was appropriate for his actual size.
The kennel originally anticipated was not large enough. A larger travel kennel was selected so Tobe would have the appropriate space for his international journey.
Behind every successful international pet relocation is a process most travelers never see.
For Tobe, our team coordinated the veterinary documentation, export procedures, cargo arrangements, travel kennel, airline requirements and airport pre-check before departure.
When Tobe arrived at the airport, everything needed for his journey had already been prepared.

On September 1, 2026, the day Tobe had been preparing for finally arrived.
Our team transported him to Tocumen International Airport (PTY), prepared his kennel and documentation and personally handled his live-animal cargo check-in.
Tobe then departed Panama for Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
His family was waiting for him in the United States.

The relocation did not really end when Tobe’s flight landed.
It ended when we received photos of him where he belonged:
home with his new family.
From a street dog in Panama to part of the family in America.
A dog who had been living on the streets near Portobelo was now thousands of miles away, surrounded by the family that had decided not to leave him behind.
From his time under our care in Panama to the day he began his journey to his new home.
Tobe’s case illustrates what full-service international pet relocation can involve.
His owners were already outside Panama. His veterinarian was in another part of the country. Tobe needed transportation to Panama City, continued care, documentation, the correct travel kennel, export coordination and professional handling at the airport.
Panama Pet Relocation coordinated those pieces into one journey.
